Maria Angeles Ruiz Moneva read her PHD in 2003 and has been a lecturer in English linguistics and translation since 1994. She started lecturing at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (1994-96). She is currently working at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) as a tenured lecturer (Associate Professor). She has taught in the fields of Agricultural Engineering, Teacher Training, Humanities and Social Sciences, English Philology and Translation. Her main research interests deal with historical linguistics, translation, English for Specific Purposes (legal discourse), as well as pragmatic approaches to irony and relevance theory. Some of her most recent publications include:“A Modest Proposal” in the Context of Swift’s “Irish Tracts”: A Relevance-Theoretic Study.
