As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published in journals, books, conferences, or seminar proceedings, nor is it currently under consideration by another journal or any of the channels above (or an explanation is provided in the Comments to the editor).
The submitted file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc, .docx) following the journal's template.
URLs have been provided for the references when available.
The author's name and any possible references that could reveal the author's identity have been removed from the text. Identification data is included in the METADATA, which will be requested during the article submission process.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements listed in the "Authors’ Guidelines".
Author Guidelines
Journal of Policy Evaluation (JPEVAL) does not have either article submission charges or article processing charges (APCs).
Types of Manuscripts Journal of Policy Evaluation (JPEVAL) accepts the following types of manuscripts:
Theoretical Research Articles: Studies that provide new perspectives, models, or theories in the field of public policy evaluation.
Empirical Research Articles: Investigations based on empirical data analyzing the implementation and effects of public policies.
Literature Reviews: Critical and comprehensive analyses of existing literature on topics relevant to public policy evaluation.
Best Practices: Detailed descriptions of successful experiences and methodologies in public policy evaluation.
Manuscript Submission All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online portal. Before submission, the following guidelines must be met:
Manuscript Format: Manuscripts must be written in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx), following the provided template.
Submission Languages: Manuscripts will be accepted in Spanish and English.
Publication Language: Accepted manuscripts will be published in English, translation will be the responsibility of the authors.
Length: Articles should not exceed 10,000 words, including abstracts, figures, tables, references, and appendices.
Abstracts: Each manuscript must include an abstract of no more than 250 words in the language of the article and its translation into the other language (Spanish or English).
Keywords: Include 4 to 6 keywords relevant to the article’s content, along with their corresponding translations.
Estructura del Manuscrito Manuscripts must contain, at a minimum:
Title: Clear and concise, in both Spanish and English.
Authors: Full names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors.
Abstract and Keywords: As specified above.
Introduction: Study context, objectives, and relevance.
Main Body: A detailed explanation of the methodology and obtained results.
Conclusions: Main findings and contributions of the study.
References: A complete list of all cited sources, following APA (7th edition) style.
Citations and ReferencesUse APA (7th edition) citation and reference format.
Style: Use el formato de citas y referencias de la APA (7ª edición).
References: Ensure that all references cited in the text are included in the reference list and vice versa.
Figures y Tables
Figures: Must be submitted in high resolution (300 dpi or higher) and numbered consecutively.
Tables: Must be numbered consecutively and clearly titled.
Peer Review All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors may suggest up to three potential reviewers, but the final decision rests with the editorial team.
Ethics and Originality Declaration
Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration for publication in another journal.
Ethics: Authors must adhere to ethical standards in research and publication, avoiding plagiarism and fraud.
Copyright and Open Access
Copyright: Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the rights for the first public communication through the signing of a designated document.
Open Access:JPEVAL provides open access to its content, promoting the free and global dissemination of knowledge.

Supplementary Files
Complementary files are considered those that contain information that enriches the work or that facilitates its understanding, for example audios, videos, tables, maps, images, etc. Images, tables, graphs, etc. contained in the text are not considered complementary files, these must be included in the text in their proper location and size.
Supplementary files can be the following formats:
Text: ASCII, Word, PDF, HTML
Tables: Excel, Word, HTML, XHTML, XML
Audio and video: AVI, MPG, Quicktime, RM, MP3, WAV
Animation: GIF, JPEG, Flash/Shockwave
Images: GIF, JPEG, TIFF
They will be uploaded to the platform during the submission process and will be named complementary files. You can upload as many as required.
Submission editorial process
Upon the arrival of a new submission, the editorial team will verify that it complies with the standards regarding style and content (see Focus and Scope).
If the submission is accepted, it will go to the review step, where the editorial committee will select two expert researchers who will issue evaluation reports; these reports will include an opinion regarding the opportunity of the research, methodological adequacy, bibliographic review and contribution to the area of knowledge, through the double-blind system. In case conflicting reports are issued, a third report will be requested. The reports will be tools for editorial decision-making that will fall to the editorial committee, this will be the one who communicates to the author the editorial decision that may be: accepted, accepted with minor corrections, modifications (in this case the new submission will be submitted to a new review round) or rejected. In any case, the author may question the editorial decision and communicate with the editorial team to receive the appropriate clarifications. It is the intention of the editorial committee to motivate the editorial decision and guide the author in the opportunity of his research.
A first editorial decision (acceptance or rejection) will be made in the first 3 months, and final acceptance will be made between 6-8 months after receipt. Always depending on the volume of submissions that is managed at any time.
Once accepted, it will be sent to production for technical review and layout. The final version cannot be published until the author(s) sign the rights transfer document for the first public communication.
