Journal History

EGE Expresión Gráfica en la Edificación was founded in 1999 by the Association of Professors of Graphic Expression Applied to Building (APEGA), with Professor Juan Manuel Raya (University of Seville) as its principal promoter.

During its early years, the journal was published in print with the aim of creating a specialized scientific forum for the dissemination of research, teaching innovation, and knowledge transfer in the field of graphic expression applied to building.

With the evolution of digital technologies and new models of scholarly communication, the journal initiated a gradual transformation towards digital publishing. This process culminated in 2020 with the launch of an exclusively electronic edition and its full integration into open-access academic platforms. This transition enabled greater international visibility, improved accessibility to content, optimized indexing, and strengthened the journal’s scientific impact.

From 2020, the journal adopted a publication model with two issues per year. Since 2025, it has followed a continuous publication model, with issues closed semiannually in June and December, under a diamond open access framework with no costs for authors or readers. These developments have consolidated the journal as a stable forum for the dissemination of advanced research, including architectural graphic representation, applied geometry, graphic surveying, heritage documentation, photogrammetry, 3D laser scanning, BIM, GIS, and other digital technologies applied to architectural graphic surveying.

From 2026 (Issue 24) the journal changes its distribution license to a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

The journal has been directed by the following professors:

– 1999–2001. Juan Manuel Raya, University of Seville (issues 1 and 2)

– 2002–2018. Santiago Llorens Corraliza, University of Seville (issues 3 to 10)

– 2019–2025. Mª Concepción López González, Universitat Politècnica de València (issues 11 to 23)

Since 2026, the journal has been co-directed by Professors Teresa Gil-Piqueras and Pablo Rodríguez-Navarro from the Department of Architectural Graphic Expression, Universitat Politècnica de València.

At present, the Executive Board of the Association of Professors of Graphic Expression Applied to Building (APEGA) is composed of the following members.
