Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to present a picture of what has been studied about the reuse of open data and to analyse what the challenges might be in developing this field of study. Firstly, a descriptive analysis of the existing literature on open data reuse available in the WoS and Scopus databases was conducted. Secondly, a survey of open government experts was conducted to identify the main issues to be addressed in the future. The results show that most of the documents have been published in recent years and that the country with the highest production is Spain. The most frequently mentioned words in the literature are public, portals, metadata, models, quality and reuse. On the other hand, experts have pointed out that among the topics to be developed are reuse and good practices in the private sector, ethical aspects, sustainability and circular economy, artificial intelligence, federated data spaces and marketplaces. It is also of interest for use in sectors such as health and education. This study presents a picture of the reality and challenges of open data reuse, showing the interest in its study from the academic and business sectors, as well as its great social and economic impact.
