Editorial Findings in Architectural Construction

Abstract:

The “Findings in…” section in this issue of VLC arquitectura is devoted to Architectural Construction, a field whose recent evolution highlights its capacity to open up new lines of reflection and research on the built environment. Far from being linked exclusively to systems, materials and construction techniques, this field now encompasses approaches concerned with the materiality of buildings, their performance, transformation, conservation, and adaptation to new environmental, energy-related and social demands. From this perspective, Architectural Construction emerges as a transversal and strategic area of knowledge, called upon to play a decisive role both in the understanding of existing architecture and in the definition of rigorous criteria for its improvement and contemporary intervention.
