Virginia De Jorge Huertas es Arquitecta (2015) y Doctora en Arquitectura (2019) por la Universidad de Alcalá (ETSA - UAH) siendo Número 1 de la Promoción y Premio Extraordinario Final de Carrera. 

Desde 2022 es Profesora Ayudante Doctora en el Área de Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica (EGA) de la URJC. Acreditada a Profesora Contratada Doctora por Enseñanzas Técnicas. Desde 2023 forma parte del proyecto de investigación nacional WAR-F (Women Architects in Film, 1945-200. Spain and Latin America in the international context).


Su trabajo ha sido financiado y apoyado por las siguientes entidades: Beca de excelencia CAM, Introducción a la Investigación, UAH, Santander CRUE PYMES, Colaboración del MECD, ARQUIA 2015 y fue finalista para la Beca de Investigación en Nueva York en 2021.  Doctorado con mención internacional valorado con Sobresaliente Cum Laude por unanimidad, obteniendo por concurrencia competitiva un contrato FPU - Formación de Profesorado Universitario del MECD - Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deportes. Durante su etapa predoctoral ha realizado estancias de investigación; Architectural Association (Londres, 2017) e IUAV (Venezia, 2019). Su tesis doctoral "Esferas, Umbrales e Infraestructuras" fue preseleccionada en la Bienal de Arquia Tesis en 2021.

En 2020 - 2021 estuvo de investigadora postdoctoral en la Università Iuav di Venezia con el proyecto "Giancarlo De Carlo: Mettere in Mostra l'architettura - Progetti 2019". En 2021 formó parte del proyecto MuWO - Mujeres en la Cultura Arquitectónica (pos)moderna española (MuWo). Con relación a las publicaciones, es autora / coautora de más de 20 artículos indexados en JCR, Scopus y Avery. Cuenta con 20 participaciones en conferencias y workshops nacionales e internacionales, entre los que destacan MoMoWo y MORE, Italia, Europan Europe, Bélgica, ENHR, Suecia, AMPS, UK o Docomomo Ibérico.

Doctor Arquitecto por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Sobresaliente Cum Laude y mención internacional, 2016). También Máster en Proyectos Arquitectónicos Avanzados por la UPM (Sobresaliente en TFM, 2011) y Arquitecto por la Universidad de Navarra (Sobresaliente en PFC, 2009).   Profesor Ayudante Doctor en la URJC desde 2023, habiendo sido docente también en la ETSAM de Madrid, EINA de Zaragoza y ETSA de Valladolid. Es miembro del grupo de investigación Paisajes Urbanos y Proyecto Contemporáneo (UNIZAR), previamente investigador en la Universidad de Cambridge y en los grupos Teoría y Crítica de la Arquitectura Moderna y Contemporánea y Vivienda Colectiva de la UPM. Su trabajo de investigación se centra en las relaciones entre arquitectura y cultura contemporáneas, destacando el libro "Revisión de la modernidad en la arquitectura británica (Finalista premios COAVN 2022) y diversos artículos en revistas indexadas internacionales (ETF VII, ARTS, RA, ZARCH, En BLANCO, CPA, etc.). Acreditado como Profesor Contratado Doctor por la ANECA desde 2022. Fundador del estudio de arquitectura JDEA en 2014 con sedes en Madrid y Pamplona.

Abstract:

The social and cultural transformations we are experiencing have given impetus to new ideas in architectural production and systems of representation. Within these systems, the diagram has become an essential tool for architectural design in some of the most influential studios. This is the case with OMA, SANAA, Tschumi and Eisenman. The aim of this article is to study the use of the diagram by these studios as it has become an essential means of conceptualising and representing their architecture. In the case of OMA, we observe how the diagram serves to develop the programmes that characterise many of their architectural projects; at SANAA, there is a relationship between diagram and spatial resolution, their architecture having been interpreted as diagrammatic; and in the cases of Tschumi (The Manhattan Transcripts; Notations. Diagrams & Sequences) and Eisenman (Diagram Diaries; Feints) is conceived as the theoretical basis and formal development of their architecture. On the other hand, the comparison of the diagrams selected as a methodology not only shows a relationship between them, but also establishes a series of categories for rethinking this system of representation and graphic strategy within the context of contemporary architecture.
