Abstract:
Vespa velutina nigrithorax (V. velutina), or Asian hornet, is an invasive species introduced in Europe in 2004 and spreading rapidly with repercussions on beekeeping, human health, or pollination services. As part of the European Atlantic POSitiVE project, we conducted a survey of 151 beekeeping units in 2021 on the practices associated with its control in Galicia. Taking the data to the whole population (complex sample), we have estimated that the costs of control are between the14 % and the 21 % of the production value. We present an analysis by provinces and by methods of control.
